ABOUT MY WORK
I am a photographic artist who takes inspiration from my surroundings, wherever that may be. Most of my daily work consists of capturing birds and animals in their natural habitats whilst keeping an eye open for opportunities to create abstract photographic art.
I continue to add to my collection of images that explore what I call “Nature’s Second Impressions” – changed perceptions of the natural world around us. Several techniques have been applied to both landscapes and the elements within. Intentional camera movement gives still images a feeling of dynamicism and translucency while inverting the colours of the photograph, which results in a creative palette, adds a luminosity to the often overlooked components of a scene.
As a biologist and science educator I also enjoy finding and documenting those amazing moments that give us pause to think about the astounding environment around us.
My work has been displayed in several group shows in the Toronto area as well as having work published in Nature Photographer magazine. I was named "Best in Show" in the SPARK Photo Festival in 2023 for my photograph entitled "Water Life".
